Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) is sterile, but gets impregnated with an alien embryo, which quickly gestates. Afraid of what’s growing inside of her, she enters a surgical pod and has the embryo — which has grown into a squid-like creature — extracted. Luckily, the pod not only delivers the alien, but also staples Shaw back up.
